A wonderful holiday home to enjoy the beauty of Spain.

Best time to visit the white washed village of Mijas is in the morning. Stroll down the tiny streets in the centre where you will have stunning views of the mountains. Mijas has many small shops, bars  and restaurants. You can visit the Mijas bullring and enjoy the park behind the bullring where you will find the best views of the coast. In the evening the village is more quiet and very nice to have dinner in one of the restaurants.

Hiking. If you like hiking there are several hiking trails starting from the village. You can ask us for more information.

Aguapark Mijas is great fun for children at 10 minutes from Casa2mariposas.

Mariposario. The butterfly garden in Benalmadena 8 minutes away from Casa2mariposas.

Aventura Amazonia is 20 minutes from the cottage. Also visit the Botanical garden in Málaga is about 30 minutes from the house.

Beaches. The nearest beaches in Los Boliches (Fuengirola) are only a 7 minute’s drive away.

See the Moorish Alcazaba fortress and enjoy the view from the Gibralfaro mountain. Eat tapas in the market hall Mercado Central Atarazanas go for tapas at the well known Bodega bar El Pimpi, the oldest bar in Málaga.

And if you ordered something from bar ‘Antigua Casa de Guardia’ then they write your order in chalk on the bar, the only bar where you owe it.

As the name suggests, the urban art Soho district is atmospheric and creative. Live music can often be found in La Fabrica. The harbour is also very worthwhile for a walk and you can visit the museum Centre Pomidou Malaga. 

There are more than 30 museums in Malaga like Museo Picasso, CAC (modern art), Museo Carmen Thyssen and many more.

El Tintero. If you want to eat fish in an unique way, go to El Tintero in the El Palo neighborhood right on the beach. Here they serve the food as a kind of auction. You pay for number of plates and the drinks ordered. It’s fun to watch and you can eat at your own pace when picking plates. Quite an experience. Best for luch on aSaturday or Sunday. Try to be there early (13.30h.) to get the most out of it.

Granada is of course known for Alhambra! It is the most visited place in Andalucía and it is necessary to buy your tickets online well in advance. Point of interest number two is the Albaicín, the Arab quarter just below the Alhambra. For flamenco music and dance go to ‘Cueva La Rocío’ a flamenco peña. This is a cave where you will find real flamenco. Flamenco in Granada is often practiced by the gypsies. In La Cueva de la Rocio in Sacromonte you will ne able to assist to a show from a music and dance show performed by gypsy artists. Parque de las Ciencias the Science Museum of Granada is also very worthwhile.

The capital province of Andalusia. Seville is known for its Plaza de España, Parque Maria Luisa, the Giralda cathedral, the Los jardines del Alcázar de Sevilla the and the beautiful Jewish quarter of Triana where you can taste delicious tapas. We recommended a guided Bike Tour through Seville, so you see a lot and you also get an explanation in your own language.

Such a beautiful city! Known for its beautiful Mezquita and in May for it’s patio festival when the locals open up their patios full of beautiful flowers, which is why the city is also called the city of flowers. Also visit the Jewish quarter and ruins of Medina Azahara.

Cordoba is also know for its exquisite olive oil and delicious red wine and of course Flamenco.

Antequera is a beautiful town and is known for its delicious ‘molletes’ (flat breads). But is is also an attractive city to visit! The old Alcazaba castle overlooking the whole city, the ‘dolmens’ burial mounds from 3000 B.C. you can visit, El Tocal natural reserve, see El Torcal. Food is also excellent. We recommend ‘Arte de Cozina’ where you can taste diferent types of porra and even take the recipe with you! Porra is thicker than gazpacho and is best to be taken as a tapa. Antequera is very close to Mijas and you can easily visit in less than a day.

This park is also called the pancake mountains. It is free to visit and from the visitor’s center there are several hikes for all levels. Close to El Torcal you can find the Lobopark (Wolf Park) and the CAMINITO DEL REY, an unforgettable walk along the reef of a gorge.

Day trip to Tarifa, the southernmost point where you can almost touch Morocco. Super laid back atmosphere village and beautiful beaches where you can kite surf or just chill for a day.
